Welcome and Thank you for visiting my site!
I have been an Artist as long as I could hold a crayon. I began with drawing, painting and creative writing, all of which I still love to do when I have the time. As my work evolved I started doing sculpture as well. I lived in Mexico as a very young child for a while, and a bit in Central America until about the age of five. Like a seashell you can put to your ear and hear the waves, the ocean has always stayed with me even when far from it, and as such, I incorporate it into my work, in the form of Marine Art and always in the constant soothing flow of a fountain.
I'm a fan of many different forms of art, and will add some of my new painting's when they are complete. Through out my copper art site you will find this love of diversity reflected in a variety of thematic artwork. My visual artistic disciplines include Realism, Surrealism, Post Modern and Abstract.
About four years ago I touched base with an Uncle of mine, Tim Ward, who had been working in copper, merging architecture and copper art that stemmed out of his longtime love of Landscape Design. He inspired me to pick up a torch and hammer, and has continually remained my mentor in the fountain and artisan business.
I owe him a profound debt of gratitude for helping to open this door for me. There is something almost unexplainably compelling about the draw I feel to fountain art, and as such fountain art became the catalyst for my copper art. It has evolved from fountains into anything imaginable. After four years of continual full time copper artwork, I have had to condense my site a bit to make room for many new and wonderful pieces to come.
I am beginning to branch out in my work, heading ever more so into elaborate sculpture. Art to me is a nearly timeless expression of Mankind's journey through life, from the earliest cave painting's to works like Les Miserables. I find that I have an insatiable desire and passion to learn and create something new through this journey of life.
Thank you for visiting and sharing in my artwork, and please let me know if I can answer any questions for you at all.
Sincerely,
Joseph Ward

Below is my first Media Article, in great thanks to my Uncle Tim Ward, who invited me to participate with him in this 4th of July event in Flagstaff. The kind reporter, (on an internship from Hungary) reversed our roles in the article, yet together we were fortunate enough to make the front page! Yet I'd like to take this chance to properly thank my Uncle for having me tag along, and to honor him for donating one of his large Sabino fountains to the Northland Hospice Center that was the beneficiary of the Fair of Life Art Festival.

You may have noticed some exceptional photographs sprinkled throughout my site, as photography is an art form too. These very beautiful images are courtesy of my Uncle Bruce Shockett, and I am extremely proud and honored to have him display my work with his 30 plus years of photographic expertise, as he brings my art to further life, allowing you to see it as it truly appears in person. I am very grateful for his help. Please visit the Contact Page for information about his Photography Studio in Tucson, Az. and a link to his Deja Vu Photography website.
